Chapter 5: Night at KTV
The kitchen door creaked open, and she gasped. Her eyes met with those of the person standing outside - a tall, handsome man in his mid-thirties who wore an old-fashioned suit. He had jet-black hair tied back into a ponytail and a pair of glasses perched on his nose.
"Miss... Ma'am," he said, stepping aside to let her enter. "I'm here with my neighbors."
The woman's heart skipped a beat as she made her way through the foyer. The man led her into the living room where two other men were sitting, one who was smoking and another playing chess. They waved at them enthusiastically.
"Come in for a drink," the tall man offered. "Would you like something to eat?"
The woman declined politely but accepted his offer of a snack. She noticed that all three men had very expensive suits on. The tall man turned back to her, holding out a hand with a small card fluttering in it.
"This is my friend John, and this is David," he said. "John, we've met before."
The woman looked up at the nameplate and recognized both men as old acquaintances from high school. She smiled warmly as she shook their hands.
As they sat down to watch a movie on the TV, conversation flowed freely between them. The tall man revealed that his friend John had just finished college and wanted some help finding a job in his city.
